In applied photography which tries to charm with elements of reality such as commemorative photographs classic reportage etc. color helps the viewer see what he knows. When you attempt to make a personal photograph which seeks to speak about another reality that is the one you make with the elements of reality this transition this transfer takes place in other ways. The differences between color and black and white are so many so great that we are actually talking about two different media. Otherwise they use the light otherwise the volumes otherwise the surfaces. I personally use black and white because I'm interested in white and black spaces that have no information which are lost in color.
In color there must be information even in color. Black and white has e-commerce photo editing spaces so it becomes more abstract. It is the world of shadow the tones of white and black that make the difference. But I think it's hard to define all of these precisely. This subject is one of the most difficult chapters of photography and the more you try to define it the more it slips away. However in of a skilled and inspired photographer all means can work. And one more thing that we must not forget black and white photography has behind it one hundred and fifty years while color only two or three decades. So it's only a matter of time I think before photographers start coming out who will handle color more comfortably.
What elements do you think dominate fashion photography internationally I have the impression that fashion photography is starting lately to have some representatives who are more personal although again on a superficial level. Some smart designers especially Italian ones look for already established photographers not fashion photographers anyway and pay them handsomely to make a report in their own style for the display of their clothes. We're breaking away from that classic style of the previous decade where the Los AngelesMilano formula beautiful women and Patrick Demarchelier photographing them dominated.
